Finian Cunningham, writing in ICH and struck by the total failure of the Western media to report on recent massacres committed by foreign backed mercenaries in Syria says:

That charade ( of the freedom and democracy supporting rebels ) is rapidly disintegrating, exposing not just criminal Western governments sponsoring the violence against civilians, but an entire media industry that is also guilty of war crimes through its willful complicity.

This is not mere hyperbole. To disseminate false information and lies about conflict – under the guise of independent news – is to be complicit in covering up war crimes. You can hardly get more serious misconduct than to tell lies about crimes against humanity.

He refers to the massacre of at least 125 civilians and soldiers in Khan al Assal, which was briefly overun by terrorists last week. Unlike massacres last year where the dead were held up as examples of ‘regime brutality’, these fighters now have no scruples,  proudly claiming responsibility in the name of Al  Nusra.

But there’s another aspect to this particular massacre that is noteworthy; Khan al Assal is the town near Aleppo where rebels apparently used Sarin in March, and which following a Russian investigation and solid evidence provided to the UN, was going to be visited by UN officials. The attack by rebel forces both served to deter them from visiting, and managed to destroy evidence as well as probably witnesses. Syrian Girl has made a short video that describes this crime and its context very well, and shocking it is.
